From misty mountains to turquoise waters, Northern Mindanao is proving itself to be more than just a hidden gem—it’s a rising star in international travel. Recently, a group of South Korean journalists and content creators embarked on a five-day journey across the region, capturing its raw beauty and vibrant culture for audiences back home.

Organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT), the familiarization tour aims to position Northern Mindanao as a must-visit destination for Korean travelers. “This is the second time we’ve welcomed media from South Korea. The excitement and curiosity they bring really energize our efforts,” said DOT-Northern Mindanao Director Marie Elaine Unchuan.

A Playground for Adventure Seekers

The tour kicked off with a series of outdoor adventures—from the majestic waterfalls of Iligan City to helmet diving and snorkeling in Misamis Oriental’s coastal waters. The group also explored the lush mangrove forests in Tubajon, went jet skiing, and braved Cagayan de Oro’s famous white-water rafting course.

They even made their way to Bukidnon for zipline rides and cool breezes at Dahilayan Adventure Park, and took the scenic Route 955 through Claveria—perfect for travel content that blends thrill and serenity.

Culture, Calm, and Captivating Views

Beyond the adrenaline, the creators were treated to a more reflective side of the region. Stops included the Divine Mercy Shrine, the sprawling Del Monte pineapple plantation, and a relaxing round at Pueblo de Oro Golf Course. Each destination offered a glimpse into local life, history, and spiritual heritage.

Through the Eyes of Creators

“This trip goes beyond sightseeing,” said Park Byung Chang from South Korea’s New Media Division. “It’s about discovering untold stories and sharing them through fresh eyes.”

Lee Min Hye, a lifestyle influencer from Pink Cat, said she had bookmarked Bukidnon even before arriving. “Now that I’m here, it’s even more beautiful than I imagined,” she said.
