The Bacolod City Coliseum, a large coliseum that can accommodate up to over 11,000 people is anticipated to be finished this year.

The facility has been at least 70% finished, per the City Tourism Office.

The arena will be situated between Barangays Alijis and Tangub and is expected to host major sports and entertainment events.

Potential for big events

The coliseum can hold gatherings with up to 11,450 attendees, basketball games with 7,800, and major events like concerts and boxing contests with over 10,000.

At a project cost of around PHP400 million, a museum-auditorium will also be built next to it.

Additional funding this year

The municipal government allotted an extra PHP50 million for some installations not covered by the initial budget of roughly PHP800 million, which was obtained through a bank loan during the previous administration early this year.

The additional sum will come from savings on debt servicing for the city's 2022–2024 unobligated balances under the 20 percent Development Fund.
