Comedian and actor Roberto Gloria Reyes, popularly known as Amay Bisaya, died at the age of 67 on May 8, 2025.
His humorous parts and unique presence in many films, especially those starring the late Fernando Poe Jr., made him a revered figure in Filipino entertainment.
Bisaya’s life
Reyes, who was born in Tubigon, Bohol, started his career in the 1980s and soon became well-known for his friendly and humorous sidekick parts.
His performances struck a chord with viewers, securing him a unique position in Philippine cinema.
Reyes pursued a career in public service after leaving the entertainment industry to run for governor of Bohol in 2013 and 2018. Even though he lost, his candidacy demonstrated his strong ties to his heritage and his desire to give back to his community.
Family left
His family, friends, and innumerable admirers will never forget him for his contributions to Filipino entertainment and his sincere nature.
Bisaya's family also received condolences from the Katipunan ng mga Artista sa Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon Inc. (KAPPT Actors Guild of the Philippines).
“On behalf of the KAPPT Actors Guild of the Philippines, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to our beloved friend. May he rest in peace,” the guild wrote.
