Get ready, Bicol! The skies over Legazpi are about to burst with color and adrenaline as the Bicol Loco Hot Air Balloon Festival returns for its second year from June 14 to 16 at the Old Legazpi Airport — and it’s shaping up to be bigger, bolder, and even more breathtaking!
The Department of Tourism in Bicol (DOT-5) is expecting a tourism boom, with over 500,000 visitors anticipated from Metro Manila, nearby provinces, and even abroad. “This festival is a major draw for the region. Hotels and resorts were fully booked last year — we’re ready to welcome even more guests this time!, said DOT-5 Regional Director Herbie Aguas.
Sky-High Thrills and Star-Packed Nights
The festival promises non-stop action both in the air and on the ground. Expect hot air balloon flyouts, skydivers waving the Philippine flag, paramotor formation flights, car drifting shows, and aerobatic displays that will leave you breathless.
As the sun sets, the excitement continues with a powerhouse lineup of performers including SB19, Zack Tabudlo, Hev Abi, Rico Blanco, Kim Ji Soo, DWTA, and more. With music, lights, and a festival atmosphere like no other, it’s the perfect kickoff to the Bicol summer.
Tourism Boom for the Whole Region
More than just a show, the Bicol Loco Festival is a huge boost for the local economy. “Every tourist brings business—from tricycle rides to food stalls,” Aguas said. “If each visitor spends just PHP2,000, that’s millions circulating in the community,” he added.
The Legazpi City Government preparations are in full swing. Even nearby towns like Tabaco are opening their doors to tourists, encouraging them to explore the beauty of Albay—from the pristine beaches of Misibis Bay to thrilling ATV rides around Mayon Volcano.
Legazpi Mayor Alfredo Garbin summed it up best: “This year, we’re going all out. Bigger balloons, more surprises, and unforgettable experiences await!”
