The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has announced the official calendar of activities for the 2025 Philippine Film Industry Month (PFIM), celebrated this September. With the theme “Pelika at Pilipina,” this year’s festivities honor the significant contributions of women directors, artists, and creatives in shaping Philippine cinema.
Honoring Women in Film
The monthlong celebration kicked off on September 1 with tribute screenings highlighting the works of trailblazing women in the industry, including Lee Briones-Meily, Raquel Villavicencio, Gina Alajar, Olivia Lamasan, and Malou Santos. The opening event set the tone for a series of programs designed to spotlight female voices and perspectives in Philippine filmmaking.
Film Festivals, Competitions, and Seminars
Among the key events is the 8th Sine Kabataan Short Film Festival and Laboratory from September 5 to 7 at Red Carpet Cinemas, Shangri-La Plaza, featuring short films from 10 emerging youth filmmakers. The PFIM 2025 Gala Night follows on September 11 at Seda Vertis North in Quezon City, while the Films for Peace competition will take place on September 13-14 at SM North EDSA.
In collaboration with the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund) and the Society of Filipino Archivists for Film (SOFIA), FDCP will also hold an Audiovisual Archiving Seminar and Workshop on September 24-26 at the Mowelfund Film Institute. Meanwhile, the FDCP and Directors’ Guild of the Philippines (DGPI) will host a film pitch event on September 25 at Lanson Place Mall of Asia in Pasay City, linking filmmakers with potential producers.
Industry Roadmap and Nationwide Screenings
On September 26, the Film Industry Conference will take place alongside the launch of the first-ever Philippine Film Industry Roadmap at Lanson Place Mall of Asia. The FDCP is also reviving “Pelikula ng Bayan” in partnership with Sine50, offering Filipino stories nationwide at an affordable price of P50 per film.
The festivities will conclude with the closing ceremony at Robinsons Manila on September 27. The full list of activities and updates can be accessed through FDCP’s official social media pages.
