The number of adult Filipinos who say they are “very happy” with their love life has hit a record low, according to the latest Social Weather Survey (SWS). In the Fourth Quarter 2025 survey, 46% of respondents said they were very happy with their love life, while 40% said they could be happier and 14% said they have no love life at all.
SWS said the 46% figure is the lowest in more than 20 years, tying last year’s result since the question was first recorded in 2004.
Marriage Still Boosts Love-Life Happiness But Numbers Are Shifting
The survey found that married Filipinos remain the happiest in their love lives, but trends are changing across relationship types.
Among women, 57% of married women said they were very happy, followed by 45% among those with live-in partners and 22% among those without a spouse or partner. Compared with 2024, happiness slightly increased among married women but declined among women with live-in partners and those without partners.
Among men, 55% of married men reported being very happy, followed by 50% among live-in partners and 28% among single men. Happiness rose among single men but dropped among married men compared with last year, SWS said.
Who Took Part in the Survey and Why It Matters
The nationwide survey was conducted from November 24 to 30, 2025, using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults aged 18 and above, with 300 respondents each from Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
Respondents were evenly split between urban and rural areas, with a 1:1 male-to-female ratio. Participants came from various age groups and education levels, providing a broad snapshot of Filipino adults’ views on love and relationships.
SWS noted that the survey was non-commissioned, with a sampling error margin of ±3% nationwide and ±6% for each major area.
