The highly acclaimed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series will now feature Margielyn Didal, an Olympian and skateboarder from Cebu, as a playable character in its future game remake, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4.
A teaser video featuring Margielyn was released by Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. It showed the character skating and doing various tricks in a park and a wider space close to a bay.
At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Margielyn and skateboarding icon Tony Hawk posed for a picture.
Introduced as a skater from Cebu
The athlete highlighted her skating influences and identified herself as a native of Cebu, Philippines.
"I'm excited to be in the game and other people to use me in the Tony Hawk game," she said.
The objective of the game is to use a combination of ollies, aerials, flips, and other skateboarding tricks to obtain the best score possible.
Iconic game
Since 1999, the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise has existed, with American skateboarder Tony Hawk serving as the brand's face.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater will be published on July 11 and is currently available for preorder.
In the 2018 Asian Games, Margielyn earned the gold medal for the Philippines in skateboarding. She then met Tony Hawk at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where they posed for a picture.
