For many pet parents, leaving their dogs behind during a trip can be heartbreaking. However, that’s about to change. Starting November 12, 2025, Philippine Airlines (PAL) is giving passengers the chance to bring their furry best friends along with the launch of its FurPAL Program—a new service that allows small dogs to travel in-cabin on select domestic routes, including Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao.

The service starts at a P2,500 one-way base fare, marking the national flag carrier’s first-ever program dedicated to making local air travel more pet-friendly.

How It Works: Flying with Your FurPAL

Under the program, passengers may bring one small dog weighing up to 10 kilograms, as long as it is at least eight weeks old and fully weaned. To ensure comfort and safety, each flight will only allow up to three dogs on board.

Pets must stay inside a soft-sided, leak-proof carrier that fits under the seat in front of their owner, with a maximum size of 17 inches by 11 inches by 9.5 inches.

“We are initially offering this service for small dogs, and can expand to other dog sizes and pet types depending on aviation security and safety regulations,” said Alvin Miranda, PAL Vice President for Marketing.

A Paw-sitive Step for Pet-Friendly Travel

The FurPAL Program reflects PAL’s growing focus on enhancing customer experience through thoughtful innovations. The airline’s strong financial performance supports this move, reporting its 15th consecutive profitable quarter from April to June 2025.

PAL recorded a 48% increase in net income to $60 million, as revenues rose 6% to $831 million, and operating income climbed 10% to $71 million, driven by strong passenger demand.

With FurPAL, PAL isn’t just flying travelers to their favorite destinations; it’s giving them the comfort of knowing their furry companions can safely come along, too.
