Cebu City is lobbying to develop a ramp that will connect the three interior villages of Pasil, Pahina-San Nicolas, and Ermita to the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
According to architect Yumi Espina–head of the Cebu City Planning and Development Office– the residents of the three barangays are open to the ramp project, viewing it as an essential infrastructure connecting the communities to the town of Cordova.
Public discussions are now being held in Pasil, Pahina-San Nicolas, and Ermita by CCLEX Corp. (CCLEC), the company that developed and operates the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway.
DPWH commitment
According to Espina, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is dedicated to completing the project by enlarging a portion of the historical Tres de Abril Street, which will link to V. Rama Ave at the N. Bacalso Ave. intersection.
He added that the parcellary survey along the national route impacted by the ramp project is now being conducted by the DPWH-7.
Additionally, the funding for the ramp project will increase from PHP3 billion to PHP6 billion.
The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway
The 8.9-kilometer Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway, commonly referred to as the Third Cebu-Mactan Bridge and the Cebu-Cordova Bridge, is a toll bridge expressway located in Metro Cebu, Philippines.
The bridge links Cordova, on Mactan island, and the South Road Properties in Cebu City, on the mainland of Cebu. It is the first road link between Cebu City and Cordova and the third between Cebu and the Mactan islands, crossing the Mactan Channel.
It surpasses both the 2-kilometer (1.2-mile) San Juanico Bridge between Samar and Leyte, considered the longest sea-crossing bridge in the Philippines, and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, which is the longest cable-stayed bridge in the country and also traverses the Mactan Channel
