Commuters along Edsa can now stay connected while traveling, as 17 Busway stations have been equipped with free Wi-Fi, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced on Tuesday.

The project, implemented in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), is part of efforts to modernize public transport and enhance commuter convenience.

Convenience Meets Connectivity

“Passengers can use the free Wi-Fi for cashless payment of fares and to stay connected with their families while commuting to work, school, or other destinations,” Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez shared in a statement, emphasizing the practical benefits for daily travelers.

He also highlighted that coordinated efforts between government agencies allow for “more effective and better public service” under the leadership of the President.

How to Connect

Accessing the free Wi-Fi is straightforward. Commuters simply need to select the DICT Free Wi-Fi for All network in their device settings and accept the terms and conditions. The service is available around the clock, ensuring passengers can enjoy uninterrupted connectivity any time of day. Connection speeds are reported to peak at 60mbps, coincidentally matching Edsa’s 60kph speed limit.

The 17 stations offering free Wi-Fi are: Balintawak, Kaingin, SM North EDSA, North Avenue, Philam QC, Quezon Avenue, Kamuning, Nepa Q-Mart, Main Avenue, Ortigas, Buendia, One Ayala, Ayala, Tramo, Taft Avenue, Roxas Boulevard, and SM Mall of Asia.

The initiative aims not only to enhance convenience for commuters but also to support digital inclusion in public transportation. By enabling cashless transactions and access to online services during commutes, the project contributes to smarter, more efficient urban mobility.

For the average commuter, this means more productive travel time and easier access to essential digital resources while on the move.
