Sagip CPR recently brought its lifesaving advocacy to the School of the Holy Spirit in Quezon City. The training reinforced the importance of equipping young Filipinos with emergency response skills that can help save lives in critical moments.

The training session, held on January 21, formed part of the program’s ongoing nationwide expansion into schools. Students were trained in practical, hands-on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) skills.

A Lifesaving Skill Introduced Early

School-based training is part of Sagip CPR’s nationwide rollout. The program aims to embed lifesaving knowledge not only in healthcare settings but also in everyday spaces such as homes, campuses, and communities where cardiac emergencies often happen first. This approach recognizes that immediate bystander action is critical.

During the training, students joined hands-on demonstrations focused on the Check, Call, Compress method. This simplified approach makes CPR easier to learn and perform even for non-medical responders.

The session also introduced students to AED use, an important tool that can help restore normal heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest.

Building a Nation of Trained Responders

Sagip CPR, launched in 2025, is a nationwide Bell-Kenz Pharma initiative that aims to train one million Filipinos in hands-only CPR and AED use. The goal is to help build a nationwide network of citizen first responders.

The campaign was created in response to heart disease remaining the leading cause of death in the Philippines. Many cases are linked to sudden cardiac arrest, where immediate CPR can mean the difference between life and death.

One School at a Time

The School of the Holy Spirit training reflects the growing role of academic institutions in strengthening national emergency preparedness. By bringing CPR training directly to students, Sagip CPR helps create a ripple effect. Knowledge learned in the classroom can extend to families and communities.

As the campaign continues its nationwide rollout, each school training contributes to a larger vision. The goal is to build a generation of Filipinos ready to step forward and help when seconds matter most.
