Every year, the City of Pines transforms into a vibrant tapestry of color, music, and culture during the Panagbenga Festival, Baguio’s iconic month-long flower celebration.

A Season Of Blooming

Panagbenga, which means “a season of blooming” in Kankanaey, is a tribute to the resilience and creativity of the people of Baguio. Since its founding in 1995, following the devastating 1990 earthquake, the festival has grown into a platform for local artists, performers, and communities to shine, while drawing visitors from across the Philippines and abroad.

The festival marks its 30th year in 2026, with the theme “Blooming Without End.” It further promises an array of events from January 12 to March 8 that highlight both tradition and innovation.

Kicking Things Off

The celebrations began with the Flower Tee Golf Tournament at the end of January, attracting golf enthusiasts from around the country. February 1 ushered in the Grand Opening Parade, with students from local schools performing energetic group dances along Upper Session Road, winding toward the Melvin Jones football grounds.

Markets and City Life

For those exploring the city, the Panagbenga Market Encounter is a hub for flower- and strawberry-themed products, local handicrafts, and regional delicacies. Meanwhile, Session Road will transform into a pedestrian-friendly promenade from March 2 to 8, inviting the community to stroll past sidewalk cafes, pop-up stalls, and floral-inspired displays.

Art, Music, and Cultural Pride

This year’s festival showcases landscaping mastery through the ongoing Panagbengascapes Exhibition and Design Challenge, while music enthusiasts will have enjoyed performances by Cup of Joe, Spotify’s Top Artist of 2025. By mid-February, the Rhythm of the Highlands will take place, where Cordillera groups will display traditional dances and music. This will be followed by the Baguio Spring Festival Grand Parade, highlighting the region’s vibrant heritage.

The Grand Finale

The Streetdance Parade on February 28 will energize the city with synchronized moves and elaborate costumes. Meanwhile, the Grand Floral Parade on March 1 will showcase floats adorned with various floral arrangements. And capping off the festival will be the Little Miss Panagbenga pageant and the Flower in the Sky fireworks display on March 8.
