Alaminos City Sizzles With 2026 Hundred Islands Festival Longganisa Grilling

Alaminos City brought the sizzle this Friday as 1,250 dozen longganisa hit the grills during the Hundred Islands Festival 2026. According to Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste, 250 grills, each loaded with five dozen sausages, stretched out to an incredible 500 meters of juicy, garlicky goodness.

The event replaced the traditional oyster grilling this year due to red tide concerns in nearby coastal towns, ensuring a safe and fun-filled celebration for locals and visitors alike.

Alaminos Longganisa: A Culinary Treasure

The city’s famous longganisa is beloved for its rich, garlicky flavor and signature bamboo-stick packaging, making it one of Alaminos’ most popular food souvenirs. The industry traces its roots back to the 1970s, when around 100 vendors processed over 50 kilos of meat daily.

“Events like this support our local vendors and help put Alaminos longganisa on the map—hopefully worldwide,” said Mayor Celeste. Beyond taste, the festival also highlights the city’s one-town-one-product initiative, celebrating Alaminos’ unique culinary identity.

Community Spirit and Economic Boost

The longganisa grilling wasn’t just about food—it embodied the city’s culture of sharing. Attendees enjoyed free servings of longganisa, catfish, eggplants, and other local delights, creating a lively, community-centered atmosphere. The festival also draws thousands of tourists, giving local businesses a welcome boost.

“Fiestas stir the economic pot. We hope visitors explore our city, try the products, and support micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs,” Mayor Celeste added. With the smell of grilling longganisa filling the air and smiles on every face, Alaminos proved once again that its festivals are about food, fun, and the joy of coming together.
