Access to advanced heart diagnostic services has become more convenient for residents of Zambales following the launch of a new artificial intelligence-powered medical facility at the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital (PRMMH).
The inauguration of Central Luzon’s first AI-powered 2D echo machine on May 13, 2026, marks another milestone in the province’s efforts to modernize public healthcare services and improve access to specialized medical examinations for patients with cardiovascular conditions.

Advanced Technology for Faster Heart Diagnostics
Leading the launch were Governor Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., PRMMH chief of hospital Dr. Eileen Garido, and executives from Himex Corp. headed by Executive Vice President Yoshihiro Ohno. Also present during the event were Engr. Domingo Mariano, provincial consultant for development and infrastructure, and Larraine Rico, executive assistant to the governor.
According to Mariano, the newly installed equipment utilizes artificial intelligence to help accelerate diagnostic processes and improve efficiency in evaluating patients with heart-related illnesses. The technology is expected to support healthcare professionals by speeding up the interpretation of test results.
A 2D echocardiogram uses ultrasound imaging to assess the heart’s structure, movement, valves, and overall function. With AI-assisted analysis, patients can expect shorter waiting times for results, allowing doctors to make medical decisions more quickly.
Improving Access to Specialized Healthcare
The new facility is expected to provide significant relief to residents who previously had to travel outside Zambales or seek treatment at hospitals in other areas to access similar cardiac diagnostic services.
By bringing the technology directly to the province, local officials aim to lessen the financial burden and inconvenience often experienced by families needing specialized heart examinations. The initiative also supports efforts to make healthcare services more accessible to communities within the province.
Governor Ebdane emphasized that the acquisition of the AI-powered 2D echo machine forms part of the provincial government's broader healthcare modernization program. The initiative focuses on upgrading hospital facilities, improving medical equipment, and expanding healthcare options available to Zambaleños.
With the addition of the new diagnostic technology, PRMMH is expected to serve more patients requiring cardiac evaluations, helping doctors detect heart conditions earlier and provide timely treatment. For residents of Zambales, the project represents a step toward better healthcare access, while contributing to the country's ongoing efforts to strengthen public health services through modern medical technology.
