Cancer patients in Occidental Mindoro may soon have better access to specialized treatment as the province’s first chemotherapy center is set to be established in Mamburao.
The planned Prime Care Mamburao Chemotherapy Center is expected to provide chemotherapy services to patients from Mamburao and neighboring municipalities, bringing an important cancer care facility closer to communities across the province.
Bringing Cancer Treatment Closer to Patients
For many cancer patients, receiving treatment involves more than the medical procedure itself. Regular chemotherapy sessions can require frequent trips to hospitals and treatment facilities, which may mean additional expenses for transportation, food, accommodation, and other needs.
With a chemotherapy center planned within Occidental Mindoro, patients may no longer need to regularly travel outside the province for chemotherapy and other specialized cancer care. The facility is expected to serve not only residents of Mamburao but also patients from nearby municipalities who need access to cancer treatment.
Free Chemotherapy and PhilHealth Assistance
According to a post by Mamburao Mayor Glicerio “E-K” Almero III on Wednesday, September 16, the planned center is expected to offer free chemotherapy, PhilHealth assistance, and access to oncology specialists.
The availability of these services could help reduce the financial burden on cancer patients and their families, particularly those who require multiple treatment sessions. Access to oncology specialists may also provide patients with more opportunities to receive specialized medical guidance as part of their cancer care.
