The Pasig City government underscored its continued push for gender-inclusive governance during the 2025 Gender and Development (GAD) Summit, which wrapped up on October 3 at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig. The city highlighted how its offices and barangays have been turning gender policies into measurable and community-impacting results.
With the theme “From Policies and Plans to Practice: Recognizing Excellence in Gender-Responsive Governance in the City of Pasig,” the event brought together city officials, barangay leaders, and members of the GAD Focal Point System to review progress, share best practices, and discuss ways to strengthen gender programs across various sectors.

Recognizing Inclusive Governance
Mayor Vico Sotto called on local leaders to sustain transparency and data-driven decision-making when implementing gender initiatives. Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski and members of the 12th Sangguniang Panlungsod also reaffirmed their support for expanding gender-sensitive services in key areas such as health, education, and social welfare.
Philippine Commission on Women Officer-in-Charge Kim Harold Peji reminded participants that compliance alone is not enough to achieve genuine gender equity.
“True gender responsiveness requires institutional commitment, not just project compliance,” Peji emphasized during his remarks.
Honoring Pasig’s Gender Champions
The summit also celebrated top-performing barangays and offices that have integrated gender-responsive practices into their governance. Barangay San Antonio and the City Health Department both earned the Most Gender-Responsive Seal and received ?75,000 each for their exemplary efforts. Barangay Bagong Katipunan and Barangay Sumilang were named first and second runners-up, while the Pasig City General Hospital and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig were recognized among the city’s best-performing offices.
Former councilor Corie Raymundo, who once chaired the Committee on GAD, reflected on how far the city has come in fostering inclusivity.
“Gender sensitivity has evolved from a checklist into a governance culture,” Raymundo noted.
Through this summit, Pasig continues to lead by example in institutionalizing gender equality; transforming policies into tangible actions that improve lives and strengthen the city’s commitment to equitable governance.
