Famous Rolling Lumpia Brings Filipino Comfort Food To Jacksonville

In Jacksonville, Florida, USA, mother-and-daughter team Cecilia Arevalo Bridges and Sydney Cez Palad turned their shared passion for cooking into a growing food business through the food truck Famous Rolling Lumpia.

The idea began when Sydney, who has a background in hospitality, encouraged her mother to explore entrepreneurship after they saw an opportunity to buy a food truck. While they initially considered different business concepts, they eventually focused on Filipino cuisine. Lumpia became their main product because it is widely loved and easily recognized by both Filipinos and non-Filipinos.

For Cecilia, the journey felt familiar. Her family had long been involved in running a small eatery in the Philippines, so building a food business abroad felt like a continuation of that tradition.

Hard Work Behind Every Service

As Famous Rolling Lumpia gained popularity, the business also grew in demand. The team began receiving invitations to serve at different events, which required them to carefully decide which bookings to accept. They now consider factors such as crowd size and event type before confirming schedules.

Running the food truck also requires long hours of work. A typical two-hour lunch service takes around eight hours in total, including preparation, cooking, transport, and cleanup. Despite the workload, they continue to manage the business together as a family.

Cecilia also highlights the values they bring to their work. She shared that they often show kindness to customers, especially children and elderly patrons, sometimes offering free meals or not charging extra for additional requests.

Growing Menu and Online Reach

The menu started small with dishes like adobo, pancit, and several types of lumpia. Over time, it expanded to include sisig, beef tapa, crispy pork belly, and bento bowls that combine different offerings.

One of their most popular items, the loaded lumpia, gained attention on social media. Customers began sharing posts and creating their own versions, helping the dish reach a wider audience. The team also improved their recipes over time, refining both taste and presentation.

What started as simple content to document daily operations eventually helped Famous Rolling Lumpia reach more customers online. As the business continues to grow, Cecilia and Sydney plan to expand their menu further and bring Filipino comfort food to even more communities.
