The Philippine concert scene may be entering a new digital era after SM Prime Holdings, Inc. partnered with Ticketmaster to launch SM Ticketmaster, a new platform set to replace SM Tickets in the coming weeks.
Tapping into the Market
This partnership marks Ticketmaster’s official entry into the Philippine market, combining the company’s global ticketing technology with SM Prime’s local venue network and event operations. Jim Kotsonis, Ticketmaster Asia-Pacific VP, emphasized that the country “represents a high-growth market and a strategic step in regional expansion.”
Moving forward, the platform is expected to handle concerts, sports events, and large-scale productions across the country.
A New PH Ticketing System
According to SM Prime president Jeffrey C. Lim, the goal of the partnership is to “make the ticket-buying experience more reliable, secure, and convenient for customers.”
SM Ticketmaster will service venues in their roster, including the SM Mall of Asia Arena, the SMDC Festival Grounds, and the upcoming SM Seaside Cebu Arena. It will also support third-party organizers through ticketing operations, customer service, and marketing support.
The launch comes as demand for live entertainment continues to grow in the Philippines, especially for international concerts and K-pop events that regularly draw massive online traffic during ticket sales.
BTS Manila Concert Rollout
The partnership was announced alongside the release of ticketing details for BTS’ highly anticipated ARIRANG World Tour in the Philippines. The septet is set to perform at the Philippine Sports Stadium, Bulacan, on March 13-14, 2027, with presale registration already underway through Weverse.
ARMY Membership presales begin on June 9, followed by the Live Nation presale on June 10 and general ticket sales on June 11 through the SM Ticketmaster website.
Fans may purchase up to 2 tickers per order during presales, while VIP packages will include soundcheck access, exclusive merchandise, and early merchandise entry.
A Shift in the Concert Scene
Beyond convenience, SM Ticketmaster could also reshape how large-scale events are managed in the country by introducing stronger anti-fraud systems and digital queue management tools.
As Filipino fans prepare for another wave of major concerts, the platform may become an early measure of how ready the country is for a more streamlined and more competitive live entertainment industry.
