Rachel Gupta, crowned Miss Grand International 2024, resigned from her title on May 28, 2025, citing "broken promises, mistreatment, and a toxic environment" within the organization. The Miss Grand International Organization, however, stated that Gupta was officially terminated for breaching contract terms, including skipping an official trip and undertaking unauthorized projects.
"Time tells all. The crown has found its queen," said MGI in an official post on social media.
This unexpected turn of events led to Opiaza's ascension to the title, as she was the first runner-up in the competition.
