The world-famous sweet Philippine mangoes have officially landed in Rome, Italy—marking a proud moment for Filipino agriculture. This milestone was made possible through the efforts of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Italy (PCCI) and the Philippine Embassy in Rome, led by Ambassador Nathaniel Imperial and Agricultural Attaché Josyline Javelosa.
On June 2, the first commercial shipment—nearly half a ton—was welcomed and celebrated at Pinoy Saver’s Mart Battistini, one of the official distributors in Rome. Now, Filipino mangoes are available in several local stores, including Sarap Restaurant and Mancini on the Go.
Stronger Trade, Brighter Opportunities
Ambassador Imperial called the shipment a step forward in addressing the Philippines’ trade deficit with Italy. “This is just the beginning,” he said. “We aim to export more fresh produce and processed foods to meet the growing demand for Philippine products in Europe,” he added.
The event was also attended by representatives from Artigiani Imprenditori d’Italia (CNA), who expressed support for expanding agricultural trade between the two countries.
PCCI Italy Chairman Dennis Carrascoso, a key driver of the initiative, emphasized the collective effort behind this success. “This project is a result of teamwork,” he said, acknowledging the financial backing from Benford Fortuna of Sarap Restaurant and the logistics support from Jocelyn Tupino of Pacific Cargo.
A Global Stage for Filipino Farmers
This first shipment is more than a commercial success—it’s a strong message to Filipino farmers and exporters: your products are world-class and in demand.
The arrival of Philippine mangoes in Rome not only highlights the country’s agricultural quality but also opens doors for more exports and long-term business ties in Europe.
As more stores begin to offer these prized fruits, this initiative stands as a proud symbol of what collaboration and national pride can achieve—one mango at a time.
