Farmers in Aurora are taking a significant step toward transforming their livelihoods through a new program that combines modern farming techniques with business management. The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has launched its Farm Business School in the province, aiming to help agrarian reform beneficiaries turn traditional farming into sustainable and profitable ventures.
A total of 30 participants from the Samahan ng mga Settlers ng San Luis, Aurora, Inc. are undergoing 17 learning sessions designed to boost productivity, develop market-ready products, and increase farm income.

Building Farmers into Agripreneurs
The program guides participants toward agricultural entrepreneurship, helping them move beyond producing raw crops to creating value-added products and strengthening their role in the local supply chain.
“The program builds farmers’ capacity to form structured groups, enter marketing agreements, and gain access to institutional buyers, supporting long-term competitiveness and economic resilience,” Aurora agrarian reform program officer Ferdinand Poblete said.
Cluster formation is a key part of the curriculum, organizing small-scale farmers into cooperative business units that can meet market demand, maintain a steady supply, and negotiate better with buyers. Participants are currently in their fourth session and are expected to graduate on June 13, 2026.
Expanding Opportunities Across the Province
DAR plans to expand the Farm Business School to reach more farmer organizations, equipping them with the skills to operate sustainably and support Aurora’s agricultural development. The agency continues to provide beneficiaries with training on cooperative principles, governance, and member responsibilities.
Poblete highlighted that the initiative aims to develop a new generation of agri-entrepreneurs who can enhance local food security, increase household income, and drive inclusive growth in the province.
For Aurora and nearby communities, the program represents a move toward a more resilient rural economy, where farmers can earn more from their harvests, supply higher-quality food to markets, and help strengthen the nation’s agricultural sector, benefiting Filipino families nationwide.
