Barely weeks after going public, Bela Padilla is single again.
The actress announced on Instagram on Sunday, Sept. 27, that she and tech CEO Martin Tan have decided to “move forward separately” after about eight months of dating, the Inquirer, GMA News, Philstar, and ABS-CBN reported.
“Truly Swept Off My Feet”
In her post, Bela described the relationship as a first for her.
“Martin and I have been dating for the past few months, and this was the first relationship where I was truly swept off my feet,” she wrote.
“We share the same love for films, food markets, our work, and, most of all, genuinely being together.”
“I kept things private mostly because this was also my first relationship where I felt most like and unlike myself,” she added.

Bela also addressed the viral video of the two of them at Legazpi Market.
“We all saw a new couple, a bit shy and awkward. But what you never got a glimpse of is us having the best and also hardest days for a couple of months now,” she wrote.
“I’m deciding for both of us to move forward separately to save whatever we can of ourselves and how we see each other,” she said.
“I think sometimes, loving someone also means knowing when to let go, before you lose the good things you saw in each other.”
ABS-CBN noted that Bela did not go into detail about what led to the breakup.
Only Kind Words
Bela ended on a warm note for her ex.
“Martin is one of the most fun, smartest, and definitely most charming people I’ve ever met. I will always be grateful for what we shared, and I genuinely wish him nothing but the best,” she wrote.
She also thanked fans “for rooting for us from afar, and for giving us the space when you saw us around and now to move forward separately.”
The post included a photo of the pair holding hands and a video from what Bela called a “lovely, ordinary” night, the Inquirer reported.
A Short-Lived Public Chapter
The couple confirmed their relationship in early September during a street interview with content creator Johnny K at the Legazpi Sunday Market in Makati City, according to the Inquirer.
At the time, they said they had met through a mutual friend, and Martin revealed they had already been together for eight months, ABS-CBN reported.
Martin is the CEO of software development company Tenext.ai, which has offices in the Philippines and Singapore, GMA reported.
When Bela was named to Tatler’s Gen T list, he went with her to the event and showed his support on social media.
Netizens flooded Bela’s post with messages of support, ABS-CBN reported.
“Ang sakit nung thought na kailangan mo ng bumitaw para ma-save mo yung natitirang dahilan kung bakit mo siya minahal.. Hayyyy! Sending hugs, Bela!” one fan wrote.
