Carlos Yulo has one more “yes” to celebrate this season, and this one didn’t come from the judges.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist announced on Monday, Sept. 28, that he and longtime girlfriend Chloe San Jose are engaged. He also revealed that he popped the question months ago, on Dec. 18, 2025, GMA News reported.
A Nine-Month Secret
“Nine months ago… she said yes,” Carlos wrote on Instagram.
“And all I can say and all I can feel is that I am truly blessed.”
“Blessed to love you. Blessed to be loved by you. Blessed to have you as my fiancé and, soon, as my forever,” he added, according to GMA.
The couple had kept the news to themselves since December. They made it public barely a week after Carlos’s historic run at the 2026 Asian Games.

Chloe shared the details of the proposal on YouTube.
According to GMA, it took place at a resort decorated with candlelight and flowers, with the words “Will You Marry Me?” mounted in one corner of the venue.
“For nine months, we’ve been treasuring this beautiful secret between us, quietly smiling to ourselves and taking our time to cherish it, knowing that one day we’d finally share it with the world,” Chloe said.
“Mahal ko, I would choose you in every lifetime,” she added. “And now, we get to choose each other for the rest of this one.”
Carlos and Chloe have been together since 2020.
In a March episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the two spoke openly about marriage, GMA noted.
GMA’s report did not mention a wedding date.
“I Don’t Really Care”: Carlos on the “Losartan Warriors”
Hours before the engagement news broke, Carlos appeared on Monday’s episode of “Unang Hirit.”
There, he was asked about the so-called “losartan warriors,” which GMA describes as people who constantly bash him on social media.
“Personally, I have no reaction,” Carlos said in Filipino, as translated by GMA.
“I don’t really care what other people say.”
“The important thing is my own opinion of myself, and right now, my chosen family’s perspective about me,” he added.
The gymnast said he has no problem with his critics because he chooses not to listen to them.
“For me, I know where I stand. I know the truth, I know what I’m doing, and I know myself better than other people do,” he said.
“The only thing I probably don’t like is when it happens to other people, because sometimes the things they do can also be disrespectful.”
Fresh From a Historic Asian Games
The engagement news caps a big stretch for Carlos.
At the 2026 Asian Games, he won the Philippines’ first two gold medals in gymnastics, in vault and floor exercise, GMA reported.
His brother Eldrew also won a bronze on the horizontal bar in his Asiad debut.
On Sunday, Carlos, Chloe, and Eldrew came home to a surprise homecoming salubong.
Carlos shared the moment on Instagram.
“After everything we went through before and during the Asian Games, we came home to this surprise from our people, my chosen family,” he wrote.
He also thanked his now-fiancée.
“Thank you, my love Chloe, for sharing your family with me and Eldrew,” Carlos said in Filipino, as translated by GMA.
“For loving us, looking after us, and making us feel that we are never alone.”
Two golds, a homecoming, and now a ring. It’s been quite a September for the Yulo camp.
