Starting April 7, travelers from the Philippines planning to visit Japan for tourism can submit their visa applications at five new Japan Visa Application Centers (JVACs). The Embassy of Japan has confirmed that there will be no visa fee for single or multiple-entry tourist visas. However, travelers will need to pay a center usage fee and for any additional services they opt for.
No Visa Fees for Tourists
For those applying for tourist visas, Japan will not charge a visa fee. This applies to both single and multiple-entry tourist visas. However, applicants will be required to pay a PHP520 center usage fee when submitting their application. The embassy emphasized that while there’s no visa fee for tourists, other types of visas, such as long-term stay visas, may incur different charges.
Additional Services Available
VFS Global, the company managing the visa centers, offers a range of additional services for applicants. One of the premium options is the PHP1,500 premium lounge, which provides a more personalized and comfortable visa submission experience. While these services are optional, they are available for those who want a more streamlined process.
How Travel Agencies are Involved
Travelers who prefer to go through travel agencies can still do so, as long as the agency is part of a reliable network approved by the embassy. These agencies can submit applications on behalf of travelers, but they must coordinate directly with VFS Global. After April 6, the embassy will no longer accept applications through accredited agencies. Travelers who applied before this date can pick up their passports at the agency where they submitted their documents.
New JVAC Locations
The five new JVACs will be located in Cebu City, Davao City, Makati City, Parañaque City, and Quezon City. The embassy advises applicants to submit their visa applications well in advance of their planned travel dates to avoid delays.
