Nine restaurants in the Philippines have made history as the first in the country to receive Michelin stars, marking a significant milestone for the local dining scene. The 2026 Michelin Guide Philippines, launched at the Marriott Manila Hotel, celebrated the nation’s culinary artistry by honoring nine restaurants for excellence—led by Helm, the only establishment to earn two stars.
Helm, located in Makati’s Ayala Triangle and headed by Filipino-British chef Josh Boutwood, was recognized for its innovative eight-course tasting menu that blends modern technique, artistry, and deep respect for local ingredients. Michelin described Helm as “defying easy labels,” praising its meticulous craft and thematic creativity. Boutwood, in his acceptance speech, shared the honor with the industry:
“This award is not just for me. It’s for our industry as a whole. Having Michelin come with a 2026 guide for the first time in the Philippines is absolutely phenomenal,” he stated.

A New Era for Philippine Gastronomy
Eight other restaurants each received one Michelin star: Asador Alfonso (Cavite), Celera (Makati), Gallery by Chele (Taguig), Hapag (Makati), Inatô (Makati), Kasa Palma (Makati), Linamnam (Parañaque), and Toyo Eatery (Makati). These establishments were praised for their diverse influences, from rustic Spanish flavors to reimagined Filipino classics, highlighting the country’s growing reputation as a culinary destination.
Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, emphasized how the selection reflects the Philippines’ dynamic food culture. “This selection pays tribute to a new generation of Filipino chefs, and international chefs who have embraced the Philippines, drawing inspiration from local heritage, bold flavors, and heartfelt hospitality,” he noted.
Beyond Stars: Bib Gourmand and Special Recognitions
The first Philippine edition also featured 25 Bib Gourmand awardees, restaurants offering exceptional meals at good value, and 74 Michelin Selected establishments recognized for quality cooking. Notable Bib Gourmand honorees include Manam at the Triangle, Lampara, Your Local, and Abaseria Deli & Café from Cebu.
Michelin also gave Special Awards to outstanding individuals shaping the country’s food scene. Don Patrick Baldosano of Linamnam won the Young Chef Award, while Erin Recto of Hapag received the Service Award for excellence in hospitality. Meanwhile, Benjamin Leal of Uma Nota earned the Exceptional Cocktails Award for his inventive mixology blending Japanese, Brazilian, and Southeast Asian influences.
Sustainability at the Forefront
Capping the night’s recognitions, Gallery by Chele earned the Michelin Green Star for sustainable gastronomy, a first for the country. The honor underscores the Philippines’ growing commitment to environmentally conscious dining and innovation rooted in cultural heritage.
With this debut edition, the Michelin Guide firmly places the Philippines on the global culinary map—a celebration of creativity, craft, and the uniquely Filipino spirit of hospitality.
