The Philippine Admirals 12?Under baseball team will make their debut on the world stage when they compete in the prestigious Babe Ruth World Series, scheduled for August 5 to 17 in Branson, Missouri. This marks the first time a Filipino 12U team has qualified, earning their spot by winning the national selection tournament held May 2 to 11 in Clark, Pampanga.

Head coach Jonash Ponce, a former national team player, and assistant coach Adrian Bernardo, currently a national team member, have been leading rigorous training — 2 to 3 weekly sessions plus exposure games — to prepare the team both mentally and physically.

Young Talents from the Diamond

Comprising 14 players from private schools like Southridge and La Salle Greenhills, as well as public schools in Muntinlupa and Pasig, the Admirals displayed exceptional skill and teamwork to outplay 6 other squads during the Clark tournament.

“We, the 12-under team, won our ticket to the US (United States) by winning the local national tournament in Clark, Pampanga, held last May. We beat the six other teams that played in that division,” team member Noah Matthew Escalona said.

While this marks their first World Series appearance, the Admirals have built a strong reputation through domestic competition. Their victory in Pampanga reflected a high level of performance and cohesion. The team's ongoing warm-up matches and regular training have equipped them with valuable experience to face international opponents confidently.

What Awaits at the Babe Ruth World Series

The Babe Ruth World Series gathers top youth teams from continents around the globe — North America, East Asia, and beyond — to contest for one of the highest honors in Little League Baseball. Set in Branson, Missouri, this event promises fierce competition and a chance for the young Admirals to showcase their talent on a truly global stage.

A New Chapter for Philippine Baseball

The Admirals’ participation is more than a milestone — it’s a springboard for the sport’s growth in the Philippines. A strong performance in Branson could spur greater grassroots development, drive school and community team formations, and attract investment in coaching and facilities.

Their success may also pave the way for more frequent international exposure, boosting the overall competitiveness of Philippine youth baseball.

The Philippine Admirals 12U team’s entry into the Babe Ruth World Series is both historic and aspirational. Their journey not only spotlights their talent but also heralds the growing promise of Philippine baseball on the world stage.
